Horses To Remember

Electric Charge
Inducted February 18, 2005

Born in 1970, this attractive, feisty 15.1 hand, dark chestnut mare won the Hartman Trophy in 1981. She played and won the Cartier Handicap and played in the Camacho Cup in 1981, owned at that time by Seth Herndon who purchased her from Gary Wooten in 1978. She played in numerous other high goal tournaments with Seth for five years. A registered Thoroughbred by Prince Eric out of Miss Chargette by Some Charge, she was bred in Oklahoma by John Durham, and trained by Henry Burnell of Tulsa who sold her to Ralph Lafferty who then sold her to Wooten. Everyone seems to agree that she had seemingly endless stamina. Gary Wooten, who owned Electric Charge for a year and a half, recalls her being the best pony he ever owned. Seth Herndon says fondly " She was truly a high goal mare. She handled wonderfully at speed and had speed to burn. She did not like slow or choppy polo and let you know it."
